Are you registered?
In England, EAC are registered with Ofsted and abide to their standards at all times.
Who are your staff?
Our staff are recruited from the education and sports sector with many of our staff being returners. EAC recognise that our staff are the driving force behind the Activity Camp so take our recruitment process very seriously to ensure that we only employ the best within the industry. Staff are recruited for their professionalism, attitude to work and enthusiasm. Applicants are invited to send in their CV or fill in the online application form (found in the Come Work For Us section). The EAC Recruitment Team then analyse the applicant’s details and short list them for interview. Every staff member has to pass an interview and at least 2 references are checked to vouch for the candidate. Finally, the candidate must be cleared by the Criminal Records Bureau in England or Disclosure Check as applicable in Scotland.
EAC also check relevant coaching qualifications and ensure that each camp has at least 2 qualified first aiders. All swimming sessions are patrolled by at least one lifeguard and supervised through the EAC staff.
Before camp commences, staff are required to attend an induction and orientation day where they are briefed on EAC’s Policy and Procedures, health and safety, child protection and risk assessments among other topics. This informs staff of our high expectations and allows them to familiarise themselves with the layout of the centre.
How are children grouped and supervised?
Children are placed in groups according to their age. The groups are led during their activities by their Group Leader. Through having high staff ratio’s allows EAC to increase safety levels and enhances the feeling of security to the children. Children are supervised throughout the day, including at break and at lunch time.
What ages of children do you take?
EAC accept children aged 5 – 15 at our Multi Activity Day Camps. At our Residential Activity Camp in Cobham we accept children aged 9 – 16.
What is included in the programme?
EAC are able to offer all the activities mentioned within the brochure and more! Activities are selected depending on the age, ability and input from the children. Included in the price are 2 snacks per day, activity cards to take home at the end of the day, an EAC certificate and camp T-shirt.
Extended camp hours aimed to accommodate the working parent are available at no additional cost through the EAC Dawn and Dusk Club. This allows children to be dropped off from 7.45am and picked up as late as 6.30pm. Specialist tuition is available in certain activities through our EAC Plus courses available at a supplement.
What if it rains?
In the event of it raining, EAC will adopt a wet weather programme ensuring that the children can still take part in a range of activities and pursuits. Whilst some activities may still be operated outside safely, the emphasis will be on indoor activities.
What time does the EAC camp start at?
EAC asks that all parents register their child by 9.00am each day so that children can be placed in their groups and group rules and fire procedures can be instructed and emphasized. The structured camp day runs from 9.00am – 5.00pm but parents are welcome to drop off their children from 7.45am and collect them up until 6.30pm from our Dawn and Dusk Club at no additional cost.
